Chicago is the largest city in the state of Illinois in the United States. The city was supposed to serve as the setting for the original I Am Alive.
The metropolitan area has a population of more than nine million with over two million in the city proper. Most of the citizens are killed or even trapped by the 2009 Chicago Earthquake. Adam Collins, a white-collar worker survived the earthquake and must navigate his way through the city, finding a way out and searching for his missing ex-girlfriend, Alice, while helping other survivors and dealing with survivor factions created in the aftermath of the event.
